These are 2 very powerful words. When this phrase is used sincerely it can be one of the greatest motivators and a valuable reward for those that you might oversee. If you manage a team, it is an important way of acknowledging an accomplishment. When shared between peers, it can lead to further collaboration and advancement of an idea or project.

Remember the words, do not hesitate to use them frequently. Make sure that your employees understand what constitutes “Great work”, and how it is distinguished from just meeting expectations, or doing the minimum to stay employed. Establish goals with your employees and deadlines. Follow-up on assignments so that there is an understanding of how they might strive to do great work.

Whatever role you find yourself in, try to determine for yourself what constitutes “Great Work”, and continue to strive for it. You will feel a sense of accomplishment, pride, and a meaning for being at work each day. Think of it this way: either way you will spend an incredible amount of time at work, you can spend that time to accomplish something… or to just get by.
